Grand opening to be held Friday for new Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and Chemistry Building

Recognized as one of the nation’s leading academic facilities for collaborative research, a grand opening celebration will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 10, for Ohio State’s Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and Chemistry (CBEC) building, 151 W. Woodruff Ave.

Ohio State President Michael V. Drake, U.S. Rep. Joyce Beatty and Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor John Carey will participate in the program. A reception and building tours will follow from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

CBEC is the first LEED-certified laboratory building on campus. Opened to researchers and students in January 2015, the building space expands real-world, hands-on learning opportunities, enhances research collaborations in areas of critical need, and supports Ohio’s economy through industry partnerships.

The building features state-of-the-art laboratory neighborhoods, an industry-standard unit operations lab, a premier student study and work lounge, computer labs, transparent floor-to-ceiling exteriors, and energy saving window panels.
