2002 Ohio State football parking information

COLUMBUS – Construction projects at The Ohio State University will mean some changes in parking for Ohio State football fans. The season kicks off at 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 24 when the Buckeyes play Texas Tech at Ohio Stadium.

With several roads and buildings undergoing construction, renovation or replacement, parking lots that usually accommodate football fans are now filled with construction equipment.
“The biggest changes this year are in our motor home/RV parking and in disability permit parking,” says Beth Kelley, associate director of Transportation and Parking Services.
“Our advice for motorists continues to be come early and follow the directions of the officers to available campus parking. Traffic officers are in constant communication with each other. They know when parking lots are full and can direct motorists to the best available parking.”

Since the majority of students do not return until classes begin on Sept. 25, officials expect heavy traffic for this game. Unaffected by construction is the ample public parking on west campus. The lots are on Carmack Road, just west of Kenny Road and south of Lane Avenue. Day-of-game parking is $10 (no charge with an OSU parking permit). Free bus service from west campus begins three hours prior to kickoff and continues until one hour after the game.
Additional public parking is available in the Buckeye lots north of the Schottenstein Center and in the Polo field at 12th Avenue and Cannon Drive.

Motor Coach/RV Parking
Kelley says the upcoming closure and replacement of the Lane Avenue Bridge (which will not happen until after the final home game) means two lots fairly close to the stadium are unavailable.

·Motor Coach/RV parking has been relocated across Lane Avenue from the North French Field House lot. Motor coach season pass holders should park in the Gray lots, located just west of Bill Davis Stadium (off Fred Taylor Drive and Borror). Motor coach/RV day-of-game parking has been relocated to the Buckeye 1 lot, just north of the soccer practice fields off Fred Taylor Drive. Day-of-game motor coach parking is $30 per vehicle.

·The North Riverbank Lot, located just southeast of the Lane Avenue/Olentangy River Road intersection, is no longer available for parking due to construction on the Lane Avenue Bridge.

Disability Parking
The upcoming construction of the new Neil Avenue parking garage on campus will displace fans requiring disability parking.

·Disability parking has been relocated to the north St. John Arena lots along Lane Avenue from the Cunz Hall parking lot. This parking is best accessed from Woody Hayes Drive and Tuttle Park Place. (Lane Avenue, which also feeds into the lot, is often closed once pedestrian traffic makes safe vehicular passage unsafe). If fans with disability placards still wish to park in the Cunz, they should be aware that no shuttle service will be provided to the Stadium. Shuttles will run between the north St. John Arena and Stadium (east side) lots beginning five hours prior to kick off and continue until one hour after the game.

·Fans with motor coaches/RV’s displaying disability placards will be directed to the West Campus lots, where they may catch the shuttle to the Sisson Hall footbridge.

Medical Center Parking
The Ohio State University Medical Center is also improving, and construction will affect football and normal traffic in the area:

·The North Cannon Garage has been reopened for season pass football parking.

·Beginning September 1, patient/visitor parking will no longer be available in the Rhodes Hall surface lot, in front of Rhodes Hall, due to construction of the new Heart Hospital and Hospitals Garage. Patients and visitors will be directed to park in the 12th Avenue Garage, located on 12th Avenue between Cannon Drive and Neil Avenue.
