About 1,500 students to take part in Community Commitment Day

COLUMBUS – Painting a school playground, landscaping and cleaning a facility are among the 90 service projects that approximately 1,500 students will take part in during Community Commitment Day, one of the nation’s largest one-day service projects associated with a college campus.

The event is scheduled for Tuesday (9/21) in various locations throughout Central Ohio. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the student volunteers will arrive at the service sites between 11:30 a.m. and noon.

Media interested in covering the event from noon to 1:30 p.m. can go to: the Indianola Avenue Elementary School, 140 W. 16th Ave., where students will be painting playground equipment; or the Ark House, 1891 Sunbury Road, where they will take part in landscaping, cleaning and painting projects.

After their service experience, students can attend a service fair from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the south Oval to learn about opportunities with student government, residence halls and Greek organizations.
