Amy Ax Named Ad Manager

OHIO STATE FACULTY/STAFF NEWSPAPER APPOINTS NEW AD MANAGER

COLUMBUS -- onCampus, the faculty and staff newspaper of The
Ohio State University, has named Amy Ax as advertising manager
effective July 1. Ax coordinates the newspaper's display
advertising program, subscription renewals, and paid editorial
inserts.

onCampus distributes over 18,000 copies to full-time Ohio
State faculty and staff members as well as outside subscribers.
The paper is published 23 times a year, offering readers
information about people, events and happenings throughout the
university.

"onCampus is an excellent means of marketing products and
services to the Ohio State community," Ax said. "The newspaper
has very high readership among faculty and staff members."

In addition to her job as advertising manager, Ax is a
journalism student at Ohio State. After several years in the
private sector, she enrolled in Ohio State at the Newark campus
and earned an Associate of Arts degree in 1993.

While attending the Newark campus Ax worked in the College
Relations office assisting then coordinator Terry Blosser.

She received the Newark Campus Development Returning Adult
Award four years and was active in programs concerning returning
adult students and made regular presentations at the campus.

Ax served as a student representative on the Newark
Committee for Securing the Future Task Force, which presented its
findings to the Ohio Board of Regents. She also presented over
1,500 signatures to the Regents petitioning to have the two
institutions at the Newark campus (Ohio State and COTC) remain
separate, cooperative units rather than being merged into a new
community college.

Ax credits her ability to succeed in college as an older
student to the support she received from the staff and faculty of
the Newark campus, as well as to the financial aid made possible
by the local community. "Their encouragement made all the
difference," she said. "I am a strong advocate for the regional
campuses, which I think provide an ideal entry to college life,
particularly for non-traditional students."

After transferring to the Columbus campus to pursue her
bachelor's degree, Ax served a public relations internship at
onCampus in 1993, then joined the Office of University
Communications as a work-study student. She has been acting
advertising manager since April.

The daughter of Eugene and Ellen Buddelmeyer of Johnstown,
Ohio, Ax presently resides in Johnstown with her daughter, Jamey.

For information about advertising in onCampus, contact Amy
Ax at (614) 292-8295.
