Anthrax, bioterrorism are among topics at veterinary conference

Risks of bioterrorism and anthrax as well as an update on the West Nile Virus are among the topics that will be discussed during a two-day conference sponsored by Ohio State’s College of Veterinary Medicine.

The conference is set from 8 a.m. to approximately 5 p.m. Tuesday (6/17) and Wednesday (6/18) in Wexner Auditorium of the Veterinary Medicine Academic Building, 1900 Coffey Road.

Specific presentations include: “Anthrax – Risks to Humans and Animals” at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday; “Animal Management in Disasters” at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday; and updates on Salmonella, E coli and the West Nile Virus at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday.

The conference will examine issues of public health, animal welfare, and the well-being of humans and animals. Information also will be provided about current animal health and safety provisions of the Animal Welfare Act as well as farm animal welfare standards.
