Archie Griffin to be honored with naming gift Thursday

Archie Griffin, two-time Heisman Trophy winner, and CEO and President of the Ohio State Alumni Association, will be honored at 4:15 p.m. Thursday (1/14) with the announcement of a significant naming gift in the new Ohio Union, 1739 N. High St.

Griffin's storied careers in football and as an Ohio State administrator, inspired a private donor to provide a gift to an area of the university that will impact students, faculty, staff and alumni, and the central Ohio community. The new Union will open this spring following a three-year, $118 million construction period.

Griffin will be joined for the announcement by Peter Weiler, senior vice president for University Development and President of The Ohio State University Foundation, and Tracy Stuck, assistant vice president for the Office of Student Life and director of the Ohio Union. University representatives and family members will also be in attendance.

WHEN: 4:15 p.m on Thursday (1/14). Media interested in shooting b-roll should arrive at the Smoot Construction trailer at 3:30 p.m.

WHERE: The Ohio Union, 1739 N. High St.

CHECK-IN: The Union is still under construction therefore all media must check in at the Smoot Construction trailer located on College Road to receive a hard hat and be escorted into the building. Please note everyone is required to wear hard-soled, closed-toed shoes.
