Arrangements for Clinton Visit

                            NEWS ADVISORY:
                    ARRANGEMENTS FOR CLINTON VISIT

Here is a schedule of events surrounding President Clinton's 
visit to Ohio State on Friday, Oct. 20.

CREDENTIALS
Journalists wishing to cover the President's and Vice 
President's arrival at Port Columbus, the  Midwest Region 
Economic Conference and the speech by President Clinton on the 
Oval should apply for credentials to the WHITE HOUSE OFFICE OF 
MEDIA AFFAIRS.  Submit the name, date of birth, and social 
security number of each person needing credentials, as well as 
the site (Airport, conference, Oval speech), on company 
letterhead via fax, to 614-688-0255.  Requests must be received 
by no later than Thursday, Oct. 19, at 6:30 p.m.

Pick up credentials for airport arrival/departure on site 
between 7 and 8 a.m. at Lane Aviation.  The President and Vice 
President will arrive approximately 9 a.m.  They will travel to 
Ohio State via motorcade.

Pick up credentials for the Midwest Economic Conference at 
the Fawcett Center between 7:30 and 9:00 a.m. at the table inside 
the WOSU door.

Pick up credentials for the speech on the Oval at the press 
entrance, South Oval Drive in front of Orton Hall between 8:30 
a.m. and 10 a.m., or 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.  The pre-set time for 
all equipment at the Oval is 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.  Final access 
for reporters is 11:30 to 2 p.m.

MIDWEST REGION ECONOMIC CONFERENCE, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Fawcett 
Center, 2400 Olentangy River Road.  Regional media headquarters 
for the conference is the main auditorium of the Fawcett Center.

Parking: Media may park in the visitor lot, south of the 
Center.  Late-arriving media (after 9 a.m.) may be asked to park 
across the street at the Woody Hayes Athletic Facility.  Press 
entrance is through the WOSU door to the Fawcett Center.

Coverage: WOSU-TV will offer gavel-to-gavel coverage in a 
live, unrestricted satellite feed beginning at 9:30 a.m. on KU 
Band, Telstar 401 k, Transponder 9A, Downlink 11958 Vertical, 
Audio 6.2/6.8

All escorts into the conference will originate from the 
media center.  Videographers and still photographers will be 
escorted into the conference room for individual coverage and 
cutaways.  There will be limited seating for correspondents and 
reporters in the conference room.  An audio feed of the event 
will be available in the Regional Media Center.

**Media wishing to order a phone for the media center should 
contact Russ Morrison at Ohio State University, 292-8136, no 
later than 5:00 p.m. Thursday.  The cost is approximately $100.

PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT SPEECH TO OHIO STATE COMMUNITY 
Pre-program begins at 2:45 p.m.  This includes Ohio State 
President E. Gordon Gee and two students, as well as the Ohio 
State University Marching Band, comedian Richard Lewis (Ohio 
State alumnus and grand marshal of the Homecoming Parade that 
begins at 6 p.m.)

Media should enter at the press entrance, in front of Orton 
Hall.  If at all possible, credentials should be picked up 
between 8:30 and 10 a.m., but they also will be available from 11 
a.m. to 2 p.m. at the press entrance.

Live trucks (ONLY) may park on Hagerty Drive between Hagerty 
and Mendenhall halls. (Cable run is approximately 500 feet.)  
Media parking is on South Oval Drive (between Mirror Lake and the 
Main Library) and on Neil Avenue.  Mult Box and power will be 
provided on the media platform.  The event will last 
approximately one  hour.

Information for the public:  
Tickets to the speech are available at the following Ohio 
State locations: Ohio Union, Drake Union, Fawcett Center, Hale 
Black Cultural Center, Mershon Auditorium, Medical Center Human 
Resources Office, Regional Campuses.  Tickets are free.

Everyone who attends the speech will be asked to go through 
a metal detector.  Bookbags, briefcases, backpacks, etc. will not 
be permitted.

Gates to the speech open at 12:30.  Please encourage your 
audience to enter from the west side (Library side) of the Oval.
and to park in the West Campus lots off Carmack Road.  Free 
shuttle buses will run from the parking lots to the main campus.

The north and central campus bus routes will continue on a 
normal schedule beginning at 6:45 a.m. running every eight 
minutes, with slight delays to allow for traffic. The routes will 
include stops at the two bus shelters in the West Campus parking 
lot.  The busses will bypass College Road and travel on High 
Street, with a stop on the corner of 12th Avenue and College 
Road, and in front of Blackburn House on Woodruff Avenue. The 
drivers will announce the 12th and Neil avenues stop as the best 
stop to get off to reach the west side of the Oval to hear 
President Clinton's address.
