Asher to discuss economy, globalization during lecture

Herbert B. Asher, professor emeritus of political science at The Ohio State University and counselor to President Karen A. Holbrook, will present “A Changing Society: The New World Economy, Energy, Globalization and the Environment” at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday (5/21) at Sullivant Hall Theater, 1813 N. High St.

Asher has written “Polling and the Public: What Every Citizen Should Know” and “Presidential Elections and American Politics: Voters, Candidates, and Campaigns Since 1952,” and has also served as co-editor of the American Journal of Political Science. Asher, who is an expert in Ohio politics and its role in the national arena, was the interim director of the John Glenn Institute for Public Service and Public Policy at Ohio State.

The “Ohio and the World” Lecture Series features scholars and experts who will discuss different themes related to Ohio’s continuing development. In addition to Columbus, the lectures take place in all regions of Ohio, including Newark, Cincinnati, Toledo, Dayton, Cleveland and Athens.
