OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY PREPARES FOR 1997-98 ACADEMIC YEAR

     COLUMBUS -- As thousands of students prepare for school and
say good-bye to their parents, some 48,000 of them will say hello
to The Ohio State University as the 127th academic year begins
Sept. 24.

     Although official figures will not be available for several
weeks, the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid anticipates a
similar number of students will be enrolled at the Columbus 
campus to last year
