'Beat Michigan Week' begins Monday

COLUMBUS – "Beat Michigan Week" is a true celebration of one of college football's greatest rivalries – Ohio State vs. Michigan.
This year, the 103rd meeting between the two schools will be marked by events that promote Buckeye pride, tradition and sportsmanship leading up to the 3:30 p.m. kickoff Saturday (11/18) in Ohio Stadium.
Highlights for the week include:

Monday (11/13)
• Michigan Week Blood Drive,
1 to 7 p.m., Schottenstein Center, 555 Borror Dr. and at various sites and times throughout the week. Ohio State and Michigan students will donate the "Gift of Life" as part of the long-standing blood battle.

• Beat Michigan Pep Rally, 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., Ohio Union ballrooms, 1739 N. High St. The campus community, joined by the Ohio State Buckeyes, marching band and cheerleaders, will enjoy entertainment, food and games throughout the evening.

Tuesday (11/14) • PB& Jam Extravaganza, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., OSU Hillel, 46 E. 16th Ave. Students across the university community will assist in making more than 4,000 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to donate to shelters and food pantries in greater Columbus.

• Banner Signing and Barrington Elementary Memorabilia Sale, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Ohio Union, second floor lobby, 1739 N. High St. Students can show their school spirit by signing a gigantic good-luck banner that will be delivered to the Buckeyes. Fourth-grade students from Barrington Elementary School in Upper Arlington will also be on hand to sell Buckeye necklaces and memorabilia. Proceeds will benefit the Stephanie Speilman Breast Cancer Foundation.

Wednesday (11/15) • Maize and Blue Cornhole Tournament, 5:30 to 8 p.m., Ohio Union ballrooms, 1739 N. High St. Competitors and fans will enjoy the tournament fun, food and prize give-a-ways.

Thursday (11/16) • Pan the Wolverines Pizza Challenge, 6 to 8 p.m., Ohio Union ballroom, 1739 N. High St. Students will participate in a taste-testing contest to determine the best campus-area pizza.

Friday (11/17) • Beat Michigan Clash and BBQ Bash, 2 to 8 p.m., South Oval. Competitive games and activities will be held throughout the evening followed with a Beat Michigan barbecue.

• Beat Michigan Late Night Breakfast, 11 p.m. to 3 a.m., St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 30 W. Woodruff Ave. Pre-game jitters will be calmed at a late-night breakfast and celebration in the early hours before kickoff.

Saturday (11/18) • Bill's Brunch before the Big Game, 11 a.m to 3 p.m., Recreational and Physical Activity Center, 337 W. 17th Ave. Held in memory of Bill Hall, vice president for student affairs, the game-day brunch will feature activities that support pancreatic cancer education and research.
