Buckeye spirits raise as Fiesta Bowl activities begin

As Ohio State prepares for the Fiesta Bowl on January 5 against the University of Texas, the following events provide media with an opportunity to capture the excitement of bowl game festivities.

Saturday, January 3, 2009

11 a.m.
"Fort McDowell" Fiesta Bowl Parade

The OSU Marching Band will perform at 11 a.m. in Central Phoenix to begin Fiesta Bowl festivities. The Parade will begin on Central Avenue, just north of Montebello Avenue. It will travel south to Camelback Road, east to 7th Street and then south to finish near Minnezona Avenue.

4-10 p.m.
Glendale's Fiesta Bowl Gridiron Jam

The OSU Marching Band will perform at 4 p.m. to kick off the fan festival in historic downtown Glendale. The event will last until 10 p.m.

5:30 p.m.
Tostitos Fiesta Bowl Goes Marching into Scottsdale

The OSU Marching Band will join the Marching Longhorns in a joint performance at 5:30 p.m. at the Scottsdale Waterfront "Field" located at Camelback Road between Scottsdale Road and Marshall Way.

Community Service Project

Staff, students, alumni and coaches wives from Ohio State will team up to sort food items and pack food boxes for the hungry from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Food Bank, 2841 N. 31st Ave. This is the tenth consecutive year that Ohio State has offered a helping hand in the host community of the bowl game.

10 a.m.-noon
OSU Marching Band Public Rehearsal

The band welcomes the public and Ohio State Alumni and friends to its traditional day-before-the-game open rehearsal at Saguaro High School, 6250 N. 82nd St., Scottsdale. Former band members are welcome to bring instruments and play along at the end of the session.

2:30- 4 p.m.
Buckeye Bash Pep Rally

Join the OSU Marching Band and Buckeye faithful as well as Coach Tressel, players and cheerleaders at Tempe Beach Park, 54 W. Rio Salado Parkway, Tempe, located at the corner of Mill Avenue and Rio Salado Parkway. The marching band will perform at approximately 3:15 p.m.
