Buckeyes donate time, effort to Rose Bowl service project

Office of Student Life and Alumni Association aid Los Angeles Regional Food Bank

The Ohio State University and the University of Utah will square off in the Rose Bowl tomorrow. But today, the universities joined forces to give back to the Southern California community in conjunction with the Buckeyes’ bowl game.

President Kristina M. Johnson joined Utah representatives, university leaders, students and alumni from both schools at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

“It was an honor to join with our friends from Utah and the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank to help those in need,” Johnson said. “Ohio State’s annual bowl game service project is just one of many ways Buckeyes come together every day in service to Ohio, the nation and the world.”

The Buckeyes and the Utes assembled food packages to be distributed to more than 2,600 low-income senior citizens, women with infants and children in Los Angeles.

This is the 23rd year that Ohio State’s Office of Student Life has organized a service project in conjunction with its football bowl game in order to make a positive difference in the host city.
