Campus Partners Board Seeks News Student Member

CAMPUS PARTNERS BOARD SEEKS NEW STUDENT MEMBER

The Board of Trustees of Campus Partners is seeking a graduate student
or a graduate-professional student from The Ohio State University to serve a
two-year term on the board beginning July 1.

Ohio State established Campus Partners in January 1995 as a non-profit
community redevelopment corporation to work with the City of Columbus, the
Univerity District neighborhoods and the university itself to improve the
residential and retail area around Ohio State.

In response to suggestions from student leaders, the Campus Partners
board last summer agreed to place two students on the board. After a public
application process, the board last November selected Marc Conte, a graduate
student, and Jennifer Nelson, an undergraduate, to serve initial terms on
the board. Conte's term expires June 30, 1996; Nelson's term expires June
30, 1997.

The board determined that future student appointments be for staggered
two-year terms beginning July 1. One student position should be for a
graduate or graduate-professional student; the other position should be
reserved for an undergraduate.

Any graduate or graduate-professional student in good academic standing
may apply for the seat on the Campus Partners board. Nomination forms are
available at eight offices on campus and must be returned to the Campus
Partners office, 1824 N. High St., by 5 p.m. on Monday, May 6.

The nomination forms may be picked up at the Council of Graduate
Students office, 055 Jones Graduate Tower; Inter-Professional Student
Council office, 316 Ohio Union; Office of Student Life, 208 Ohio Union;
Off-Campus Student Services office, 104 E. 15th Ave.; Undergraduate Student
Government office, 201 Ohio Union; Office of Residence and Dining Halls, 600
Lincoln Tower; Frank Hale Black Cultural Center, 153 W. 12th Ave.; and
Campus Partners office, 1824 N. High St.

A selection committee will review the applications and will recommend
at least two students for consideration by the Campus Partners board. The
selection committee will give preference to nominees who have lived on- or
off-campus in the University District for at least one year and who plan to
continue to live in the University District during the term of service on
the board.

The University District is bounded by Fifth Avenue on the south, Glen
Echo Ravine (just north of Arcadia Avenue) on the north, the Conrail
railroad tracks on the east and the Olentangy River on the west.

The selection committee will be composed of two representatives each
from the Council of Graduate Students, the Inter-Professional Student
Council and Undergraduate Student Government; the two students currently on
the Campus Partners board; and one other Campus Partners board member. The
outgoing student board member, Marc Conte, will chair the committee.

The Campus Partners board is chaired by David Williams II, vice
president for student services. The board currently has 16 members,
including 10 university officials, two students, three residents of the
University District, and a senior city official.
