Celebration features discussion on Brown v. Board of Education legacies

A panel discussion to reflect on the legacies of Brown v. Board of Education is the culminating event for The Ohio State University’s four-day celebration of the anniversary of the 1954 ruling.

The event, titled “Brown v. Board of Education: 50 Years of Insight,” is from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on Thursday (5/27) in the ballroom of The Blackwell, 2210 Tuttle Park Place. President Karen Holbrook will give opening remarks at 7 p.m. At approximately 8 p.m., a panel discussion with Ohio State and community leaders will take place.

The panelists are: Robert Duncan, former U.S. District Court judge; Vincene Verdun, professor in the Moritz College of Law; Luvern Cunningham, former dean of the College of Education; and Napolean Bell, former president of the Columbus Urban League. Superintendent of Columbus Public Schools Gene Harris will moderate the discussion and College of Education Dean Donna Evans will give closing remarks.
