Celebration kicks off 'Investing in Momentum' campaign

The Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University will kick off a campaign to raise $30 million at 4 p.m. on Friday (10/14) at Drinko Hall, 55 W. 12th Ave. The campaign, Investing in Momentum, will raise funds to recruit and retain world-class faculty members, enhance scholarship offerings for students, support and foster professionalism, and develop innovative and unique programming.

"At Moritz, we are building a learning community second to none. Our widely recognized faculty set a high bar for their teaching and scholarship. From a talented student body, we expect - and get - extraordinary diligence. We are privileged that our many distinguished alumni are engaged with and support their alma mater," said Moritz College of Law Dean Nancy H. Rogers.

University President Karen A. Holbrook added, "There's a growing spotlight on the Moritz College of Law - thanks to highly successful alumni, honored scholars and teachers, and students poised for distinction. We're proud of the national attention Moritz has won and applaud the course that has been set. Through the generosity of the many friends and alumni of this college, we will see the vision of a powerful future fully realized."

Dean Rogers and President Holbrook will be joined by campaign chair Ed Cooperman '67.
"Over the past two decades much has been achieved but there is still more to do," Cooperman said. "Our faculty is key and we must be able to attract the highest quality students. With this campaign, we will enhance our strengths and dedicate our resources to excellence."

Also participating in the event are Ohio State Alumni Association President and CEO Archie Griffin, Brutus Buckeye, the Ohio State Cheerleaders, the OSU Men's Glee Club, and the Toll House Jazz Band. Moritz emeriti faculty members: Lawrence Herman, Robert J. Lynn, Morgan E. Shipman, and Douglas J. Whaley also will attend.
