Community invited to participate in Spielman Walk/Run
Runners and walkers are invited to participate in the annual Stefanie Spielman Walk/Run to fight breast cancer. The Sunday (10/16) event, which is the final activity for Ohio State Homecoming 2005, consists of a one mile walk and a 5K run at the Fred Beekman Park on west campus.
Registration begins at 4 p.m. The 5K run begins at 5 p.m. and the walk begins at 5:15 p.m. Registration fee is $10 for Ohio State students (please show BuckID) and $15 for non students.
Beekman Park is located at the corner of Lane Avenue and Kenny Road. Parking lots are on Carmack Road which is accessible from Kenny north of Lane or from Lane west of Kenny.
All proceeds benefit the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research. The fund was established by Stefanie and her husband, former All-Pro NFL linebacker and OSU standout, Chris Spielman. To date, the fund has raised $ 3 million which has been dedicated to breast cancer research at the Comprehensive Cancer Center-Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute at Ohio State.
