Convocation Ceremony will welcome new students - 09/14/07

President-elect Gordon Gee, Interim President Joseph Alutto, the marching band and other special guests will welcome Ohio State's best-prepared freshman class ever during Convocation at 10:30 a.m. on Monday (9/17) at St. John Arena, 410 Woody Hayes Drive.

Convocation is the university's traditional academic ceremony to welcome first-year students. About 6,100 first year students will experience their first academic procession, be welcomed by President-elect Gee, learn some of the university's history and traditions, including the words to Carmen Ohio, and follow the marching band from St. John Arena across the street to Ohio Stadium.

For the 13th consecutive year, Ohio State's freshman class ranks higher than any previous class with 53 percent ranking among the top 10 percent of their high school class and an average ACT score of 27.
