Convocation Ceremony will welcome new students - 09/16/05

President Karen Holbrook, the marching band and other special guests will welcome Ohio State's best-prepared freshman class ever during Convocation 2005 at 10:30 a.m. on Monday (9/19) at St. John Arena, 410 Woody Hayes Drive.

Convocation is the university's traditional academic ceremony welcoming first year students. About 5,875 first year students will experience their first academic procession, be welcomed by President Holbrook, learn some of the university's history and traditions, including the words to Carmen Ohio, and follow the marching band from St. John Arena across the street to Ohio Stadium.

For the eleventh consecutive year, Ohio State's freshman class ranks higher than any previous class on a number of academic indicators including test scores and the number of students in the top 10 or 25 percent of their high school class.
