Course uses art, community resources to teach children

Children from the Columbus African Beginnings dance group, an organization that teaches African culture through dance, will team up with students from Ohio State University to create artwork influenced by local artist Aminah Robinson. The workshop is from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday (5/15) at YWCA of Columbus, 65 S. Fourth St.

The art workshop is part of an Ohio State community-based service learning course designed to offer opportunities for students to teach minority children how art can reflect individual life experiences.

All artworks created by the children will be on display from May 19 to May 25 at the Exposure Gallery in the Ohio Union, 1739 N. High St.

WHAT: Children from the African Beginnings dance group will work with Ohio State art education students to create artwork.
