Dental board exams disappear from locked suite

(COLUMBUS) - Ohio State University Police are investigating the disappearance of nearly 300 dental board exam test packets from a locked suite in Postle Hall, 305 W. 10th Ave., which houses the university’s dental school. The tests, administered nationally at the same time, were to be given Monday to dental exam candidates, and today to candidates for the dental hygiene exam.

Cheryl DeVore, dean of academic affairs, said the dental hygiene test will be administered as planned, with new test forms arriving today via overnight mail. The dental exam has been rescheduled for Friday.

“We’ve done everything we could to immediately address our students’ concerns,” DeVore said.“We are looking at all possibilities on how these tests might have been removed from our offices.”

DeVore said the test forms disappeared from a locked area that is not accessible to many people, in particular the public, nor was their storage location well-known.

She said the university notified the American Dental Association’s Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations of the situation and is working with the organization to facilitate the re-administration of the exam.
