Diversity Lecture Series resumes Thursday

COLUMBUS –The Ohio State University’s President and Provost’s Diversity Lecture Series resumes at 9 a.m. Thursday (4/3) at The Ohio Union Conference Theatre, 1739 N. High St., featuring Ahmad Al-Akhras, president of the Ohio chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

Al-Akhras will discuss and offer viable solutions to the stereotypical images projected against Arabs and Muslims. His lecture is titled “Islam: Many Faces, Same Faith.”

Closing its third year, the lecture series was developed by Frank W. Hale Jr., vice provost emeritus for the Ohio State Office of Minority Affairs, to generate interest and dialogue on issues ranging from civil rights to multiculturalism. Al-Akhras is one of three lecturers who will visit Ohio State this quarter.

Ellis Cose, an author, journalist and contributing editor to Newsweek will speak at 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 15. Thandeka, the author of several books on development and racial identity, will speak at 9 a.m. Monday, May 12.

All lectures in the series are free and open to the public but seating is limited. Registration begins 30 minutes before each event.
