Expert to discuss efforts to make food safer

Fred J. Angulo, chief of FoodNet and the National Antimicrobial Resistance Monitoring System Unit (NARMS) at the Centers for Disease Control, will discuss efforts to make food safer. The event is a part of the College of Veterinary Medicine’s annual Research Day.

His keynote address, titled “Down on the farm: striving to make food safer through public health surveillance and applied research,” is set for noon on Thursday (4/15) in the Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital Auditorium, 601 Tharp St. The event is open to the public.

Angulo is an expert on foodborne diseases, human health consequences from the use of antimicrobials (or antibiotics) in agriculture and diseases that can transmitted between humans and animals.
