WELCOMING REMARKS: Javaune Adams-Gaston, vice president for student life

COMMENCEMENT SPEAKER: Abigail Wexner, community leader, philanthropist and university trustee

HONORARY DEGREES: The university will award the honorary Doctor of Public Service degree to Abigail Wexner, the commencement speaker; and the honorary Doctor of Public Administration degree to Charles F. Bolden Jr., former astronaut and NASA administrator.

DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARDS: Distinguished Service Award will be presented to Lucy Shelton Caswell, professor emerita and founding curator of the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum; and Richard Stoddard, who worked at Ohio State in numerous administrative capacities for 37 years.

NATIONAL ANTHEM and CARMEN OHIO: Diana Robinson, candidate, Bachelor of Arts

ABOUT THE GRADUATING CLASS:

  • The 2017 graduating class size surpasses the previous records of 11,235 set in 2016, and 11,040 set in 2015.
  • Among the graduates: 201 veterans and 46 ROTC cadets who were commissioned as officers.
