Clay Harris received his B.S. in Chemistry with Honors in the Liberal Arts from The Ohio State University in 2003 and graduated with Distinction in Chemistry for his research on Cooperative Hydrogen Bonding in Supercritical Fluids under the guidance of Susan Olesik. Through his graduate studies at the University of Kentucky, Harris worked with Robert Lodder on the development of New Bioinformatic Techniques for Large Datasets, and earned his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry in 2007. Harris joined the faculty at Bucknell University as a Visiting Professor for the 2007-2008 academic year, and during this time, contributed his passion for Chemistry to the instruction of General Chemistry and Quantitative Analysis, and the mentorship of a small group of undergraduate researchers. He joined The Ohio State University's Chemistry Department in May, 2008 as the Analytical Laboratories Supervisor and as an Auxiliary Assistant Professor. In addition to his duties as an instructor for a number of courses at OSU, he has spearheaded over $800 k in laboratory upgrades for the undergraduate teaching laboratories and continues to mentor a team of undergraduate research students. Harris is a member of the American Chemical Society, Society of Analytical Spectroscopy, Coblentz Society, and is president and member of the Council of Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (2010-2012.)
