Heather Inwood is Assistant Professor of modern Chinese cultural studies in the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures. Her teaching and research interests include Chinese popular fiction, internet culture (especially spoofing, online fiction, and popular poetry movements), and constructions of “Chineseness” in pop music from the PRC, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. She teaches an undergraduate course, China Pop! Contemporary Popular Culture and Media in Greater China, once a year, and regularly offers graduate seminars in Chinese internet culture and recent Chinese popular fiction. Her entry on the popular culture of East and Southeast Asia, 1900 to the present, appears in Cultural Sociology of the Middle East, Asia, and Africa, published by SAGE, 2012.
