Dr. McTigue earned his D.D.S. and M.S. in Pediatric Dentistry from the University of Iowa. From 1976 through 1984 he taught in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at Louisiana State University and served as Chair of the Department of Dentistry at Children's Hospital in New Orleans, La. He chaired the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at The Ohio State University, College of Dentistry from 1984 through 1991. From 1991 through 2002, he served the College as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists. He is currently the President of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He is past president of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and of the Academy of Dentistry for the Handicapped. He has served consultantships to a variety of state and federal health agencies, the U.S. Air Force, the American Dental Association and the Commission on Dental Accreditation which he chaired in 2002-2003. He has maintained a private practice in pediatric dentistry for over thirty-five years.
Dr. McTigue's research and clinical interests include dental traumatology and children's behavior in the dental office.
