Funding initiatives are highlight of Trustees meeting
COLUMBUS – The president of The Ohio State University says historically low levels of state support and resident undergraduate tuition have placed the university at a disadvantage in addressing the needs of its students. Therefore, a comprehensive funding initiative has been developed and will be discussed Friday (Feb. 1) at 10:30 a.m. at the regular Board of Trustees meeting.
“A principled commitment to continue to improve the university’s academic standing is critical to our students’ future and the future of Ohio,” said William E. Kirwan. “This commitment must be pursued despite historically weak state support and weakness in the state’s economy.”
The Trustees meeting, set to begin promptly at 10:30 in Pfahl Hall, Room 140, will include announcements regarding the direction of overall funding at the university with details of future tuition costs. University officials said the plan will clearly show how Ohio State leadership will handle a $73 million general fund problem in fiscal year 2003.
