Hall, others to brief media on safety plans

Vice President for Student Affairs Bill Hall will join Ohio State Police Chief Ron Michalec; Willie Young, off-campus student services director; and Deborah Schipper, director of the university’s Rape Education and Prevention Program; in outlining the university’s ongoing communications efforts regarding the series of rapes that have occurred this summer and most recently this past weekend. The news conference will be at 11 a.m. today in the Student Affairs Conference Room at 33 W. 11th Ave.

In addition, Young and members of the Student Affairs staff on Friday afternoon will distribute safety literature to students moving in over the weekend. Over the summer, Young and his staff have worked with students to update them on the crime situation off-campus, and have counseled students on how to choose safe apartments and ways to improve the safety of the ones they have already selected.
