High school honors students check out OSU today

Academic all-stars from high schools across Ohio are visiting Ohio State today for Honors Day, as the university recruits some of the state’s brightest students to join next year’s freshman class. Some 255 students are attending the day-long Honors Day program, which includes classes, information sessions, and tours of many campus academic buildings and residence halls.

Students can choose from a list of ten academic sessions that are designed to be intriguing to high school students. Topics include “Computers that fix themselves,” “Some things about Human Evolution that you REALLY Need to Know,” and “Physics in your Face: Batteries, Grapes and CDs.” The academic sessions take place at 9:45 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. in the Ohio Union.

The day also includes Information Sessions at 11:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Those sessions offer overviews on many topics including Ohio State’s Honors Program, study abroad opportunities, early admissions in the College of Medicine, and undergraduate research opportunities.
