Homecoming parade, pep rally celebrate Ohio State traditions

Parade Grand Marshal Marlene Owens Rankin, daughter of Ohio State track legend Jesse Owens, will lead President Karen Holbrook, the homecoming court, and more than 100 student organizations in the 2005 Homecoming Parade at 6 p.m. today (10/14) beginning at Ohio Stadium.

Rankin, Ohio State's first African American Homecoming Queen (1960), will help guide the parade east to Woodruff Avenue, south on High Street, and west to 12th Avenue. The parade will conclude at the South Oval where a pep rally will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The university community, alumni and fans are invited to join the Ohio State Marching Band and cheerleaders, the 2005 Homecoming Court and Brutus Buckeye in supporting the Ohio State football team and the "Buckeyes Through the Decades" homecoming celebration.
