Humanities Auction to Benefit Scholarship Fund

HUMANITIES AUCTION TO BENEFIT SCHOLARSHIP FUND

COLUMBUS -- If you've ever wanted to take a ride in the
Goodyear Blimp, or go golfing with Andy Geiger, or ring the
Victory bell after an Ohio State University football game, you
might get your chance at the "Things You Can't Buy Anywhere
Else" auction sponsored by the Humanities Alumni Society of The
Ohio State University.

The auction, to benefit the Humanities Alumni Scholarship
Fund, will be held at the society's sixth annual tailgate party
on Sept. 7. The event will be held from 9:45 a.m. to noon on the
Oval side of University Hall prior to the Ohio State-Rice
University football game.

There will be a buffet of international foods and
entertainment by the Alumni Men's Glee Club. The auction will be
conducted by Jerry Cameron, an Ohio State alumnus from Columbus.
Both live and silent auctions will be held and the bidding will
encompass a wide range of prices.

A partial list of auction items includes:
-- A ride in the Goodyear blimp.
-- Tour of the Woody Hayes Athletic Facility and visit to a
        football practice.
-- Golf with athletic director Andy Geiger.
     -- Two football jerseys (Terry Glenn's & Joey Galloway's).
-- Ringing the Victory Bell after a home game win.
-- Football brunch and game tickets.
     -- A "Rice" package.
     -- A "Michigan" package.
-- Tickets to a Reds game.
-- Ringing the Orton Hall chimes.
-- A membership to and a behind-the-scenes tour of the
Wexner Center plus lunch hosted by Director Sherri
        Geldin.
-- Dinner and theatre hosted by Columbus personalities Fred
        and Howard.

The event is being planned by three members of the
Humanities Alumni Society Board of Governors: Roberta Shoemaker,
Noreen Palmer and Marilyn Pritchett.

The tailgate party and auction are open to all. There is a
$48 per person charge for the party and a game ticket, or $22 for
the party only. There is no charge to participate in the
auction. Pre-registration is required for the luncheon and game
and encouraged for the auction. To register or for more details,
