Huntington Bank Gives #1 Million

THE HUNTINGTON NATIONAL BANK GIVES $1 MILLION TO OHIO STATE'S
FISHER COLLEGE OF BUSINESS; Gift to Commemorate Plaza Area of
College's New Building Complex
     COLUMBUS -- The Huntington National Bank today (4/14)
announced a $1 million gift to the Max M. Fisher College of
Business at The Ohio State University.  In recognition of the
gift, Ohio State will name the central plaza of the new Fisher
College building complex in honor of The Huntington.  This is the
first corporate contribution to Ohio State's new business
building project.
     In the complex's quadrangle design, the plaza will be the
main entry to the college for visitors and a gathering place for
students, faculty and staff.  Groundbreaking for the first phase
of the building is planned for early 1995.
     "It is becoming increasingly apparent that societies,
economics and cultures, including our own, are becoming
institutionalized; we do not have social, economic and cultural
isolation," said Frank Wobst, chairman and chief executive
officer of Huntington Bancshares Inc.  "Knowing this, it makes
sense for us to have a means to prepare our future leaders for
life in a global society.  This business college will assist in
giving them the knowledge to make responsible decisions that
reverberate locally, nationally and internationally."
     The Huntington's gift comes four months after Max M.
Fisher's $20 million commitment, which resulted in renaming the
college in Fisher's honor.  Fisher's gift was the largest gift
ever received for an Ohio State academic unit and the second
largest in the university's history.
     "Indeed, The Huntington shares our commitment to excellence
in business education," said Ohio State President E. Gordon Gee.
"Their generosity underscores the leadership of Frank Wobst and
The Huntington in international business.  This gift to the
Fisher College of Business truly is an investment in the future.
Such partnerships will help make the Fisher College and Ohio
State a place of true international distinction in management
education."
