John Glenn will deliver Election Day lecture to students, community

John Glenn will deliver “Citizens & Leaders: A Conversation with Astronaut and Senator John Glenn,” at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday (11/4) at Weigel Hall, 1866 College Road.

Glenn’s commitment to public service inspired the 1998 creation of The John Glenn Institute for Public Service & Public Policy at Ohio State. His lecture is the latest in the series “Odyssey 2000+ New Issues for a New Century.” It is Glenn’s first appearance as a speaker in the institute’s own series.

The Glenn Institute lecture is co-sponsored by the Ohio State’s nationally recognized Office of Undergraduate Admissions and First Year Experience, which offers programming to help first year students make a successful transition to college life.

Research has shown low voter turnouts for college students, so it is especially significant that Glenn will speak to students on Election Day. One of the goals of the John Glenn Institute is to get young people involved in public service and public policy.

Prior to the lecture, Glenn will be available at 2:30 p.m. to reporters in the conference room of the Glenn Institute which, at 400 Stillman Hall, 1947 College Road, is one building north and across the street from the lecture location. An audio mult box will be provided at both the media availability and the lecture.

Unfortunately, there are no remaining seats available to reserve for this lecture. However, there may be seating available just prior to the lecture when unclaimed reserved seats are released.
