Kermit Hall to Hear JFK Assassination Testimony

NEWS ADVISORY: OHIO STATE DEAN PARTICIPATES IN JFK ASSASSINATION 
          REVIEW; PUBLIC HEARING TUESDAY IN LOS ANGELES

Who killed President Kennedy?  If he has a theory, Kermit Hall 
isn't revealing it.  Hall, dean of The Ohio State University 
College of Humanities, is one of five members of the 
Assassination Records Review Board.  That board is an independent 
federal agency appointed to obtain, oversee, and review the 
release of documents associated with the assassination of 
President John Kennedy.  Members have promised to listen without 
preconceived ideas to researchers and citizens who have ideas 
about the killing.  

The review board will hold a public hearing in Los Angeles  
tomorrow, (Sept. 17), 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.(Pacific Time, 1-4 p.m. 
EDT) in the Los Angeles Board of Education Hearing Room, Room 
H-160, 450 N. Grand Ave.  Testimony will be given by several 
authors and two Warren Commission officials who believe the 
public is not being given the full story about the assassination.  

As a member of the review panel, Hall, a professor of history and 
law, has until October 1997 to report to the American people on 
the extent and breadth of materials they've opened as well as 
materials that are postponed in their disclosure.  
Hall has said the panel will locate all pertinent documents from 
every conceivable source, including foreign governments and 
intelligence services, and produce a single collection of 
assassination records to be housed in the JFK Assassination 
Collection at the National Archives in Washington.  

Among those expected to testify are David Belin, former assistant 
counsel to the Warren Commission and author of two books on the 
assassination; James DiEugenia, author of a book analyzing the 
assassination inquiry of New Orleans District Attorney Jim 
Garrison; Wesley Liebeler, former assistant counsel to the Warren 
Commission; and Robert Tanenbaum, former deputy counsel for the 
House Select Committee on Assassinations.  

Hall will be available for interviews outside the room following 
the hearing at around 1:30 p.m.
