Kevin Powell is United Black World Month keynote speaker

Writer, political activist and hip-hop historian Kevin Powell is the keynote speaker for The Ohio State University’s United Black World Month celebration at 7 p.m. on Thursday (2/5) in the main ballroom of the Ohio Union, 1739 N. High St. The event is free and open to the public.

Powell will address issues challenging African American men in their communities and on college campuses, and share solutions for a positive lifestyle.

An original cast member on the MTV series “Real World,” Powell has written five books, including “Who’s Gonna Take the Weight? Manhood, Race and Power in America.” He also contributed to the New York Times best seller “Tupac Shakur.”
