Legal expert can discuss case involving workplace discrimination
A panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit unanimously held on Tuesday (6/1) that workplace discrimination against transsexuals is sex discrimination in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Marc Spindelman, an assistant professor in the Moritz College of Law, is an expert on sex equality law. Spindelman says the decision is an important – and logical – step forward for a principled approach for sex equality law. According to the court’s reasoning, he says capable workers need no longer fear losing their jobs because of stereotypes associated with their sex. He can be reached at (614) 292-9913.
