Marching band honors 100th anniversary of women’s right to vote

Video features interviews with former and current female musicians

The Ohio State University Marching Band’s pregame performance celebrates the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage in the United States.

“Centennial of the 19th Amendment” was filmed on Oct. 30 in Ohio Stadium and premieres online at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 21. The program includes interviews with four current and former female marching band members about the significance of this show, voting as a right and the process of developing the drills.

The interviews are followed by a full band performance. The show features songs from Demi Lovato, Aretha Franklin, No Doubt, Eurythmics and Rachel Platten.

During the performance, all band members wore special musician masks with slits for their mouthpieces, and all brass players had bell covers on their instruments to help prevent the spread of aerosols. The formations on the field are designed so band members always stand at least 6 feet apart.

Only members of the band, band staff, an audio engineer and the announcer were allowed in the stadium during filming.

Throughout the season, fans can visit the marching band’s website for the latest updates and follow TBDBITL on FacebookTwitterInstagram and YouTube for its latest videos.
