Media credentialing information for gubernatorial debate

Gov. Bob Taft and gubernatorial candidate Timothy Hagan will participate in a debate, Wednesday, Oct. 23 at The Ohio State University. The event is one of only three forums agreed to by the candidates.

The John Glenn Institute for Public Service and Public Policy at The Ohio State University is hosting the debate. The Glenn Institute leads a consortium of five university public policy institutes in sponsoring the debate.

The event will take place 7-8 p.m. in the second-floor ballroom of The Blackwell, 2110 Tuttle Park Place. A live audience of approximately 300 invited guests will watch the debate, which will be broadcast live. The debate will be moderated by Ohio State alumnus Erin Moriarty, a correspondent for CBS. Candidates will take questions from two panels composed of students and faculty members associated with the public policy institutes.

Media must contact Amy Murray with the names of each person that you plan to send. All credential requests must be received no later than 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22.

Journalists may pick up their credentials at The Blackwell beginning at 5 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 23. Media without credentials will not be permitted in the ballroom. Check in at the media table on the second floor to the left of the elevators. All media must be in place by 6:40 p.m.

Coverage arrangements
WOSU-TV will provide live television coverage and offer a program feed (no logo) of the event. WOSU-TV will also make the debate available via satellite, closed captioned, to stations throughout the state.

Reporters wishing to cover the debate from The Blackwell are welcome to do so. Since the event is a live television broadcast, movement in the room during the debate will be restricted and reporters must remain as quiet and unobtrusive as possible.

A camera platform in the rear of the room will offer access to the pool feed as well as camera positions for photographers. There will be seating for electronic reporters near the camera platform.
·Photographers must remain in a fixed position during the debate.
·Radio reporters should be prepared to record the event from an audio mult box.
·Print reporters may sit in a media section within the audience.

Timetable
5 p.m. – Media may begin picking up credentials at The Blackwell
6 p.m. – Ballroom doors open to guests
6:45 p.m. – Doors close and guests must be seated
7 p.m. – Debate begins with introductions by moderator
8 p.m. – Debate ends
