Medical expert can discuss precautions for winter weather

With last-minute preparations for the National Championship celebration under way at The Ohio State University, a medical expert is available to speak with media about winter weather safety tips.

The temperature is expected to be in the low 20s for the celebration, which is set for 1 p.m. Saturday (1/18) in Ohio Stadium.

Dr. Ted Grace, director of Student Health Services, is available from 1 to 3 p.m. today (1/17) at the Wilce Student Health Center, 1875 Millikin Road. He can discuss appropriate attire for cold weather, safety precautions for children and infants, and warning signs for frostbite and hypothermia.

A few of the suggested safety precautions for winter weather are: to avoid alcoholic beverages; to increase fluid and calorie intake; and to check infants frequently for signs of frostbite.
