Mortar Board Honor Society to initiate 48 student members

The Ohio State University chapter of Mortar Board National College Senior Honor Society will initiate 48 student members and three honorary faculty and staff members for the 2002-2003 academic year. The initiation ceremony is set for 7:30 p.m. on Friday (4/26) in Browning Amphitheatre, the outdoor venue next to Mirror Lake.

A procession across the Oval to the Browning Amphitheatre will begin at 7 p.m. on the steps of Mendenhall Laboratory, 125 South Oval Mall.
Mortar Board recognizes seniors who have exhibited outstanding performance in areas of leadership, scholarship and service.

Included as honorary members are: Bobby Moser, vice president of Agricultural Administration and dean of the College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences; Bradley Clymer, associate professor for the Department of Electrical Engineering; and Cheria Dial, program manager for the University Honors and Scholars Center.

The annual initiation ceremony is a tradition at Ohio State. New initiates cross the Oval in ceremonial robes and mortarboards. Current members then “link” initiates and both groups walk to the initiation ceremony in Browning Amphitheatre.
