News media offered a peek inside new infectious disease laboratory

Reporters are being offered a one-time opportunity to look inside a state-of-the-art infectious disease laboratory on Ohio State University’s West Campus before the facility is ““iologically sealed“ and research begins in earnest. The $2 million-plus facility will provide researchers with some of the most sophisticated equipment and facilities in Central Ohio to study serious infectious diseases.

Dr. Larry Schlesinger, director of the Division of Infectious Diseases and director of the West Campus Biocontainment Facility, and Dr. Cecil Smith, assistant vice president for physical facilities and university biosafety officer, will both be on hand to answer questions about the facility.

WHAT:Tour of West Campus Biocontainment Facility.

WHEN: 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Thursday (4/14).

WHERE:WCBCF, east of Carmack Road, adjacent to parking lot beside Pressey Hall, 1070 Carmack Road.
