stories on the Columbus campus.  We'll update this listing every

ANIMAL DERMATOLOGY CONFERENCE--Oct. 14-15 Veterinary 
dermatologists from around the world will gather at the Riffe 
Center's Capitol Theater, 77 S. High St., for the 19th Annual 
Waltham/OSU Symposium for the Treatment of Small Animal Diseases.  
Speakers will offer the latest information on the treatment of 
skin allergies and diseases in pets, and examine the treatments 
that work best for flea bites and infestations.  You'll be 
itching to scratch the surface of this story.

PARENTS WEEKEND--Oct. 13-15-The Ohio State University Parents 
Association invites students and their parents for a weekend of 
college fun.  Activities throughout the weekend are designed to 
familiarize parents with their children's educational experiences 
on campus.  Parents, students and an expected 350 siblings will 
take various walking tours of campus, join a tailgate party, 
attend a cookout, a dance, and 'Midnight Madness' basketball 
practice on Saturday 10/14.  On Sunday 10/15, parents can enjoy a 
brunch with President Gee.

"HIGH ON PRIDE" CAMPUS AREA CLEAN-UP--Oct. 14.  Some 2,000 Ohio 
State University students, faculty, and staff will join 
neighborhood residents in the third "High on Pride" University 
Volunteers will pick up litter, remove bulk trash, sweep streets 
east of campus.  The area covers 267 city blocks with 33 miles of 
bounded by Blake Ave. on the north, Ninth Ave. on the south, the 
Conrail tracks to the east and North High St. to the west.  
Columbus Mayor Greg Lashutka and councilman Matt Habash will 
greet volunteers at 9 a.m. at the registration area at the Wexner 
Center Plaza at 15th and High St.  Ohio State President Gordon 
Gee will arrive around 10:30 a.m. to speak with participants and 
join the cleanup around 11 a.m.

FAMILY DAY AT THE WEXNER CENTER FOR THE ARTS--Oct. 15.  Along 
with Benday dots and cartoon spots, Roy Lichtenstein has brought 
Family Day to the Wexner Center.  Artists will sketch portraits 
of children that include cartoon speech balloons.  Kids can 
finish the words and color their portrait.  They'll also be able 
to dig into sculpture, listen to soundtracks, create a mural, 
silk-screen, comic strip, collage or Pop art work with 
experienced artists.  The event runs from 12 noon to 4 p.m. 
Sunday 10/15.  All activities and admission to the gallery is 
free.

UNIVERSITY CELEBRATES 125TH BIRTHDAY WITH GIANT PARTY -- Oct. 16.  
1995 marks the 125th anniversary of the university's founding in 
1870.  A huge birthday party will mark the occasion on Monday, 
10/16 on the Oval.  The bash will feature the Marching Band, 19 
cakes to represent the individual colleges that make up the 
university, and a human 125 formation.  The cakes will be cut at 
around 12:25, at which time the Men's Glee Club will sing Happy 
Birthday.  The human 125 formation, with approximately 5,000 
people, will begin around 12:30 p.m.

HOMECOMING WEEK CELEBRATION-Oct. 16-21.  A variety of activities 
are planned as students and alumni celebrate Homecoming Week at 
Ohio State.  The 1995 theme is "A Past with a Presence," 
referring to the university's 125th anniversary this year.  The 
traditional homecoming parade, featuring floats, the Marching 
Band, and comedian/alumnus Richard Lewis as grand marshall will 
begin at 6 p.m. on Friday Oct. 20. at the French Field House.  
around the south side of the Ohio Union and end on the Oval.  
Following the parade, the football team, cheerleaders and other 
supporters will hold a Pep Rally.

HOMECOMING FOOTBALL GAME-Oct. 21.  Ohio State plays Purdue at 
1:30 at Ohio Stadium.  The Homecoming Court will be introduced to 
fans.  At halftime, former players from the following teams will 
come onto the field to be honored: 1955 and 1975 Football teams, 
both Big Ten Conference winners; 1945 Mens Golf team, winner of 
the Big Ten and NCAA Championship; 1944, 1945, 1946 Mens 
Basketball teams, played in NCAA Final Four.

PRESIDENT CLINTON VISITS CAMPUS--Oct. 20.  In conjunction with 
President Clinton's Midwest Regional Economic Conference, 
President Clinton will give a public address on the Oval, Friday 
10/20 at 2 p.m.  The White House Communications Office is 
handling media credentialing for these events.  They will 
announce their procedures next week.

UNIVERSITY HOSTS PRESIDENT'S MIDWEST ECONOMIC CONFERENCE--Oct.20.  
Ohio State is the site of President Clinton's Midwest Regional 
Economic Conference, Oct. 20 at the Fawcett Center for Tomorrow, 
2400 Olentangy River Road.  The forum brings business leaders 
from across the region to campus to discuss economic issues 
specific to the Midwest.  President Clinton and Vice President 
Gore will take part in the conference.

SATURDAY SCHOLAR LECTURE SERIES--opens Oct. 21.  Have you ever 
considered the meaning of "meaning" in art?  Or how jokes, pranks 
and riddles began?  These and other topics will be discussed in a 
series of four Saturday morning conversations about the 
influences of popular culture on life and art.  The lectures 
begin at 10 a.m. in the Film/Video Theater in the Wexner Center.  
The series opens Oct. 21 with Professor Emeritus Michael Geis of 
the Dept. of Linguistics on "The Meaning of 'Meaning' in Art."  
On Oct. 28, Prof. Lee Brown of the Dept. of Philosophy will 
discuss visual art in it's transition from high modernism to post 
modernism in the 1960s.
