News Tips for Saturday

 COME TO CAMPUS SATURDAY, COLLECT 3 OR MORE STORIES IN ONE TRIP!

     We can't resist boasting a bit.  Saturday (May 6) is one
heck of a news day at Ohio State.  The campus is going to be
abuzz with activity all day long, and it's interesting,
photogenic, upbeat stuff -- just what you TV assignment editors
and radio news directors need for your Saturday evening/Sunday
morning newscasts.  Come early, stay late, (pray for sunshine)!

     To capsulize the events:

     9 a.m. to 3 p.m. -- "High on Pride" University Community
Clean-Up.  At least 1,000 volunteers are expected to participate
in this litter pick-up in the neighborhood south and southeast of
campus.  Stop by the headquarters at the Jesse Owens Recreation
Center at 175 W. 11th Ave. to talk with organizers and find out
where the volunteers are working at the moment.

     9 a.m. to approx. noon -- University Senate meets at 103
Kottman Hall, 2021 Coffey Road.  Agenda includes a proposal to
create a School of Public Health and numerous reports, including
the annual report of the Committee on Women and Minorities.

     11 a.m. to 6 p.m. -- 20th annual Medieval and Renaissance
Festival, in the South Oval and Mirror Lake area.  Costumed
performers of plays, swordfights, human chessboard, music,
juggling, magic & games, etc.  President E. Gordon Gee and his
wife, Constance Bumgarner Gee, will be crowned king and queen of
the festival at 5 p.m. on the South Oval.

     Beginning at 1 p.m. -- Greek Games on the Oval.
Fraternities and sororities compete in amusing contests such as
the hot dog and dizzy lizzie relays.
