The Ohio State University Announces 10-Year Agreement Naming Nationwide Insurance as Official Insurance Sponsor

COLUMBUS, OHIO —The Ohio State University announced a 10-year agreement that establishes Nationwide Insurance as the official insurance sponsor for the university community. The $17.1 million agreement includes benefits that extend far beyond the provision of insurance. This unique partnership formalizes the long-standing relationship between The Ohio State University and Nationwide Insurance that spans more than 30 years.

Nationwide prides itself on putting members first by ensuring that they receive best-in-class service and protection. This newly expanded partnership will provide discounts on products for members of the Ohio State community. Alumni, faculty, staff and students within the Ohio State community will have an opportunity to experience firsthand the Nationwide On Your Side® promise through a comprehensive suite of products including auto, home and life insurance.

“This expanded partnership between Ohio State and Nationwide directly supports the university's academic mission by creating valuable student internships, co-funding key programs and supporting a risk management center at our Fisher College of Business,” said Ohio State Interim President Joseph A. Alutto. “We are truly grateful for the longstanding commitment from this great Ohio company and look forward to working together to provide outstanding products and learning experiences for the Ohio State community.”

Beyond formalizing Nationwide Insurance as the official insurance sponsor, the agreement includes the following:

  • A commitment by Nationwide to create 40 internships on an annual basis for qualifying Ohio State students in various fields.
  • A five-year extension of Nationwide's current commitment tounderwrite the Risk Institute at Ohio State. Housed in the Fisher College of Business, the Risk Institute combines educational research and academic leadership with practical business application to provide students with the opportunity to make a real impact on the business community.
  • A commitment by Nationwide to partner with Ohio State to create a co-investment fund designed to support a variety of programs.
