Record number of donors give to Ohio State in FY15

A record 237,340 donors supported The Ohio State University during the fiscal year ending June 30, 2015. Overall, the $405.5 million raised in FY15 is the second largest fundraising year at Ohio State and includes a university record $360 million in cash, which is up 8 percent from last year’s total.

Meanwhile, the university’s But for Ohio State campaign, concluding next year, continues to exceed expectations, surpassing $2.37 billion against the $2.5 billion goal.

“The university community is truly grateful to our donors for the meaningful impact they have on advancing faculty and supporting our students,” said President Michael V. Drake.

Ohio State has raised more than $400 million for students during the But for Ohio State campaign. Increased student support is part of Drake’s 2020 Vision for the university, which would grow the need-based grant pool by $100 million over five years, beginning with a $15 million increase in student aid this fall through the President’s Affordability Grant program.

“Ohio State’s fundraising momentum has never been stronger,” said Senior Vice President for Advancement and President of The Ohio State University Foundation Michael C. Eicher. “Together, Ohio State’s philanthropic and academic leaders are realizing our highest aspirations and advancing the university’s mission of teaching, research and outreach.”

The But for Ohio State campaign supports the academic mission and vision of the university under several priority areas: placing students first, driving research and innovation, elevating faculty and the academic enterprise, and creating modern learning environments.
