Lecture features Picasso’s granddaughter – Nov. 13. The Lambert Family Lecture at the Wexner Center will feature a conversation between Diana Widmaier Picasso, co-curator of the major new exhibition Picasso.mania (and the artist’s granddaughter), and Jack Cowart, executive director of The Roy Lichtenstein Foundation. The event is being held in conjunction with After Picasso: 80 Contemporary Artists now on view at the Wexner Center and featuring nearly 150 works by 80 artists, including Lichtenstein—all exploring and/or reflecting Picasso’s rich legacy.
The free lecture takes place at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 13 at Mershon Auditorium, 1871 N. Ohio State holds 3rd annual Hackathon computer coding competition – Nov. 14-15.More than 350 students from Ohio State and other universities will compete at the third 24-hour OHI/O Hackathon Nov. 14 and 15 at the Ohio Union Archie Griffin Ballroom, 1739 N. High St.
Hackathons are extended computer coding sessions where students collaborate to create a new app, website or software that solves a problem or may meet a need in the marketplace.
After 24 hours of “hacking,” the teams at OHI/O will present their ideas to fellow students, faculty and tech company representatives. Teams will be judged on categories including technical difficulty, creativity, usefulness and presentation.

From Strip to Screen: A Panel Discussion on staying true to the legacy of Charles Schulz in The Peanuts Movie – Nov. 19.Ohio State alumnus Steve Martino, director of The Peanuts Movie, will participate in a panel discussion about staying true to Peanuts creator Charles Schulz’s legacy. The discussion takes place at noon on Thursday, Nov. 19, in the Barnett Center for Integrated Arts and Enterprise, Sullivant Hall, 1813 N. High St.
In addition to Martino, panelists include Ralph Millero, vice president of 20th Century Fox Animation and Craig Schulz, son of Peanuts creator Charles Schulz.
The Ohio State University Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum houses a few dozen original Peanuts strips and numerous other pieces – a gift from Schulz’s widow, Jeannie.
The panel, which is free and open to all, is part of the Barnett Center Speaker Series and co-sponsored by the Arts Initiative.
Martino will introduce a screening of the movie at an Ohio State University Student-Only Screening at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20, in the Wexner Center Film /Video Theatre, 1871 N. Former President Bill Clinton to speak at Ohio State – Nov. 19. Former President Bill Clinton has accepted an invitation from the John Glenn College of Public Affairs to speak at Ohio State on Nov. 19. Preparing for the Professoriate Retreat – Nov. 13-15. The Office of Diversity and Inclusion’s Preparing for the Professoriate Retreat works to create a sense of community and connectedness for its attendees, particularly underrepresented graduate students. The retreat also provides a scholarly atmosphere of support where doctoral students can share and receive ongoing feedback on their research and professional interests, and assists students with goal setting and outlining a professional plan.
