TRAFFIC AND PARKING INSTRUCTIONS

FOR OHIO STATE'S HERITAGE FESTIVAL

Several thousand people are expected at Friday and Saturday's (5/12 and 5/13) Heritage Festival events at The Ohio State University. Due to expected heavy traffic, motorists are urged to avoid the campus area if possible. Those attending festival events are encouraged to come early, park and walk to events.

People coming from north or south are encouraged to take state Route 315 to the Lane Avenue exit and head east toward campus. Those coming from the east are advised to take I-71 to the 5th, 11th or 17th avenue exits to Fourth Street. Police officers will direct festival-goers to available parking and provide directions.

In the event that traffic backs up on High Street, the southbound lanes between 5th and Lane avenues will be closed to create a route for emergency vehicles. Southbound traffic will be redirected west or east onto Lane Avenue, which will be restricted to eastbound traffic during times of congestion.

Parking will be available on a first-come, first-served basis in all campus parking lots and garages. Parking lots around Ohio Stadium ad Morrill and Lincoln towers will be filled first for the after-festival party. Traffic officers will direct those arriving later in the evening to the nearest parking lots. There will be no parking on 12th Avenue between High and Summit streets.

Columbus and Ohio State University police will enforce the city's curfew of midnight for people under 18.

Clergy, along with volunteers from the campus and Columbus community, will assist festival-goers, police officers and university staff from Friday afternoon to around 5 p.m. on Sunday. Clergy will wear white "God Squad" hats and their clergy collars, and the other volunteers will be identified by black "Community Friends" hats or Event Staff vests.
