COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State University will dedicate a special chair in Ohio Stadium that honors POW and MIA soldiers. The special chair will always remain empty in honor of the sacrifices of those who have served but not returned.

Media are invited to cover the unveiling, which takes place at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1, in Ohio Stadium. Media can enter the stadium at the north rotunda.

The chair will be located in the first row of section 3AA, purposely a very visible location and where the ROTC sits for football games.

Installation of a POW-MIA Chair is the most recent example of the strong support that the university and the Department of Athletics provides for military and veteran students and their families. The department holds Military Appreciation events in numerous sports including one home football game each year to salute those who have served.

The more than 2,000 military and veteran students currently enrolled at Ohio State are supported by the Office of Military and Veterans Services, which strives to ensure the academic success of the university’s student-veterans.
