NLRB CHAIR TO ADDRESS OSU LAW SCHOOL GRADUATES

     COLUMBUS -- William B. Gould IV, chairman of the National
Labor Relations Board (NLRB), will be the featured speaker at The
Ohio State University College of Law Hooding Ceremony on
Sunday,(5/14).  Approximately 200 degrees will be awarded in the
ceremony, which begins at 2 p.m. in Mershon Auditorium, 1871
N. High Street.

     Gould was nominated by President Clinton as chairman of the
NLRB, and following Senate confirmation, was sworn into office on
March 7, 1994.  His term expires August 27, 1998.  At the time of
his appointment, he was the Charles A. Beardsley Professor of Law
at Stanford Law School, where he has been a professor since 1972.

    Gould, who has served as assistant general counsel of the
United Auto Workers in Detroit, says he is proud of the agency's
prominent role in the Major League Baseball dispute.  The board
moved quickly on the problem and voted to require team owners to
reinstate salary arbitration and free agency while both sides
bargain a new contract.

     In his speech, Gould is expected to urge graduates to
consider public service careers.

     Reporters wishing to cover the ceremony or speech may sit in
a media section, in the front row of section A in Mershon
Auditorium.  Gould's speech will follow the processional and is
expected to begin around 2:30 p.m.
