Ohio State adds UConn and Ball State to future football schedules

First meeting on the gridiron for Ohio State and the two teams

Ohio State has added two first-time opponents to its football schedules in 2025 and 2026: the Buckeyes will host the Connecticut Huskies from the American Athletic Conference in 2025, and they will host the Ball State Cardinals, from the Mid-American Conference, in 2026.

Ohio State and UConn will play in Ohio Stadium on Oct. 18, 2025. The game will be sandwiched around Big Ten Conference road games for the Buckeyes at Wisconsin Oct. 11 and at Rutgers Oct. 25.

The UConn game completes the 2025 schedule. It is a schedule that includes non-conference home games against Texas Aug. 30 to open the season and, following an off week, a game against the Washington Huskies Sept. 13.

Ohio State will host Ball State at Ohio Stadium on Sept. 5, 2026. This will be the season opener and it will precede a Big Ten/Big 12 battle between Ohio State and Texas in Austin the following week on Sept. 12. Ohio State still has one open date that season. The Big Ten schedule for the 2026 season has not been released.
